Working In The Community

KCC LIVE & Knowsley council work together on numerous projects, one of the most exciting for local residents and volunteers are the outside broadcasts which happen at Christmas & during the Summer half term. KCC Live was invited to each town centre in Knowsley to play the best music and give out some winter goodies whilst the lord mayor switched on the Christmas lights.

Aimhigher Greater Merseyside is a partnership across the region working to inspire, motivate and enable young people to succeed and progress to higher education.
Aimhigher is a government initiative and its chief purpose is to support widening participation in higher education, enabling a greater proportion of young people from traditionally under represented groups to access a higher education opportunity.

KCC Live teamed up with Aim Higher 2 years ago to start a session of workshops that would produce an hour long weekly show to go out on air. Once a week members of the KCC LIVE team visit a Knowsley school to discuss and plan a show, this is then followed by a visit to the studios were students get to use professional equipment and software and complete recording.

Knowsley Community College is the proud parent of KCC Live and is located at the college’s Roby campus. From the early stages as a student enrichment programme in 2003 to the fully grown FM station broadcasting today, Knowsley community college has housed, funded & supported KCC Live.

Platform 51 is a charity which supports girls and women of any age or background in England and Wales. The girls from the Knowsley centre take over the studio and airwaves every Monday evening between 5.30-7pm discussing anything and everything relating to young females.

Platform 51 also helped to set up ‘the forum’, a weekly workshop held at kcc live for female volunteers aged 16-18. The group meets on a weekly basis to discuss relationships, careers, lifestyle choices and more.
